Dr. Eleanor Capaldi

Dr. Eleanor Capaldi recently graduated from her PhD exploring digital engagement with art and culture through acts of remix, spanning photography, GIFs, short form video and TikToks. This was preceded by an MLitt in Film and Television Studies (both University of Glasgow), where she specialised in narrative and visual language. She was a GTA on the Creative Arts & Industries degree.

Eleanor was also Research Assistant on the project Embedding LGBT Equality in the Curriculum and Classroom, leading to a chapter published in Justice After Stonewall (Routledge, 2023). This ran parallel with working in the heritage sector. At The Hunterian Museum & Art Gallery roles encompassed comms and projects, culminating in the co-curation of exhibition Edwin Morgan – An Eardley on My Wall.

Eleanor has been published in creative writing by magazines and anthologies Gutter Mag, Mechanics’ Institute Review, Interpreter’s House, Reel to Rattling Reel (Cranachan Press) and as a film reviewer and features writer for The Skinny.

As a screenwriter, short films have been selected for festivals including Iris Prize, Women X, Sunrise, SQIFF. Features have been developed through programmes with Less is More and Screen Scotland, and Stowe Story Labs. Additional talent programmes include EIFF Talent Lab, EIFF Script Starter and BFI Network Weekender. Her children’s script My Best Friend recently placed in the top 10% of the Edinburgh TV Festival open call.

She is a Blue Peter badge holder.
