The Children’s Media Foundation (CMF)

Latest Lobbying

The CMF has been lobbying in a number of fields in the last few months.  Here's a quick run-down of some of the most recent:

  • We've kept in close contact with the British Film Institute about their new film-funding policies, and had several meetings with Lottery Film Fund Director Ben Roberts to encourage him to be pro-active in developing a new slate of independent children's movies.
  • We are concerned about the extent to which Channel 4 is keeping to its commitments on provision for 10-14 year-olds.  CMF briefed members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Culture Media and Sport, who queried C4's plans in their annual review.  We will follow up with direct discussions with C4.
  • Anna Home met Culture Secretary, Maria Miller and outlined the new Foundation's aims.  Miller was particularly keen on our plans to develop closer ties between the research community, the children's media industry and policy-makers, and to provide more information for parents about the media issues which affect their kids.
  • We have submitted responses to a Parliamentary consultation on "Support for the Creative Economy" and a BBC Trust review of online and red-button services.  All our consultation responses can be seen in full on our website action pages.
