Yearbook Launch

The Children’s Media Yearbook was launched at an event in Salford University, Media City UK, on May 1st.

Yearbook Cover Image 2013SMALLMembers of the CMF Executive Group outlined some of the organisation’s successes and plans for the future, and Beth Hewitt, Senior Lecturer in Media Practice at the University of Salford School of Arts and Media and the Programme Leader for their unique MA in Children's digital media production, hosted a discussion panel on some of the topics explored in the book.

Panelists were contributors to the Yearbook, including Joe Godwin, Director of BBC Children’s, Melanie Stokes, joint MD of Kindle Entertainment, and the Editor of the Yearbook, Dr. Lynn Whittaker of Glasgow University.

The panelists were unanimous in thinking the Yearbook a valuable new initiative, bringing together the kids’ media industry, commercial and academic research, key institutions and associations and providing all parties and the public with a “publication of record” for years to come.

Sales of the “big green book" were brisk.
