Cracking the Code
Following her inspirational CMC Keynote, Baroness Beeban Kidron is appealing to producers, digital practitioners, broadcasters and all interested parties to submit comments to the Information Commissioner (ICO) Consultation on the Age Appropriate Design Code.
The Code will work with GDPR to inform the regulation of companies that store and use children's data, and any legal cases which might ensue. Baroness Kidron, with the support of Lord Ashton of Hyde, Lord Stevenson of Balmacara, Baroness Harding of Winscombe and Lord Clement-Jones of Clapham, proposed the Code in a successful amendment to the Data Protection Bill.
The 5Rights Foundation has produced a briefing document as a guidance for those who wish to submit comments to the consultation.
And 5Rights is holding information events over the next few weeks:
- Thursday 23 August, 11.30am - 1pm, Islington
- Monday 3 September, 10 – 11.30am, Edinburgh
- Tuesday 4 September, 12.30 - 2pm, Westminster
To attend, email your preferred date to: info@5rightsframework.com.
The ICO consultation closing date is 19th September 2018.
