Lord Gordon of Strathblane
APPG organiser Jayne Kirkham pays tribute to a supporter of Children's Media and the Arts
It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Lord Gordon of Strathblane after contracting coronavirus. He was a long standing supporter of the APPG for Children’s Media and the Arts and was someone the Group could rely on to uphold its principles.
The APPG co-chairs pay tribute:
"Lord Gordon was a passionate advocate for children's media and the creative industries, and he always always spoke intelligently, with conviction and with kindness.
He will be remembered extremely fondly by colleagues, friends and everyone who came into contact with him. He will be truly missed."
Julie Elliott MP,Member of Parliament for Sunderland Central
"Lord Gordon and I were members of the House of Lords Select Communication Committee for several years. During that time, he always gave strong support for issues concerning children’s media and those working in this important part of the creativity industry.
"He was a man of wisdom, vision and spoke with common sense and compassion. He leaves a lasting legacy throughout the industry and his drive and passion will be truly missed.”
Baroness Floella Benjamin, DBE
