Join our celebration of fifty years (to the day) since the launch of the iconic storytelling series Jackanory, the much-loved legend of BBC Children’s television. Having featured a cavalcade of famous actors and illustrators and told countless adored stories over its 30 year run–most of them adapted from published books by some of the most famous authors in children’s literature – Jackanory holds a special place in many of our hearts.
This event at Foyles brings together Jackanory storytellers David Wood and Hannah Gordon, with illustrator Paul Birkbeck and Jackanory director Jeremy Swan – all with tales to tell about the behind-the-scenes magic and mayhem. Hosted by Matt Brown, TV and radio presenter and author of the Compton Valence children’s book series, with clips from the show and some special guest messages and appearances, Jackanory at 50 will provide an illuminating and nostalgic pre-Christmas afternoon’s entertainment.
With thanks for their support for Jackanory at 50
