Listening to Kids – Young Voices on Media Choices
27 April, 4-5.30pm
Kids Know Best talks to young people about their media choices as part of the “Research Phase” of CMF’s Public Service Media Campaign.
Host:
Marc Goodchild
Panelists:
Japhet Asher Director, Polarity Reversal
Warren Nettleford Founder Need To Know
Dr Jane O’Connor Reader in Childhood Studies, Birmingham City University
This is the first in a new series of events exploring the questions raised in the Children’s Media Foundation’s Public Service Media Report: Our Children’s Future: Does Public Service Media Matter? Responding to the calls by many of the Report’s authors that politicians and public servants should listen to the voices of young people when planning the future of media, CMF is presenting a series of research projects that aim to do just that.
Creative agency Kids Know Best places young voices at the forefront of all their campaigns. For CMF they uncover how 12-14 years olds perceive their viewing experiences, what matters to them on screen, where they find it, how they discover content and what they understand about how it gets made and distributed. Join us to hear the voices of the great migration away from public service and into on-demand and YouTube. And hear reactions and solutions offered by well-known contributors to the CMF Public Service Media Report as they consider what the young people have to say.
