John Richmond has spent his career working in education and television, both as a teacher and a commissioning editor for schools programming at Channel 4. He helped to set up Children’s Television Trust International and was one of the organisers, in 1998, of the second global children’s media conference in London.  He went on to work at Teachers TV and helped to establish a successful formula that was subsequently adopted in other countries, including the United States, where the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation established Teaching Channel, where John was Vice-President, Production.
